What is Podiatry and how does it work at The Boxgrove Clinic?

Podiatry, similar to Chiropody, focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of conditions related to the foot, ankle, and lower extremities. Our podiatrist can treat a wide range of foot and ankle conditions, including injuries, infections, deformities, and disorders. They will also provide preventive care and education to promote foot health and overall well-being. We are fortunate at The Boxgrove Clinic to be able to offer our patients both general podiatry and muskuloskeletal podiatry services. Our highly experienced Podiatrist, Ian Linane has had advanced training in managing injuries, pain, and dysfunction related to the muscles, joints, ligaments, and bones of the lower extremities.

General podiatry at The Boxgrove Clinic includes toe nail cutting

General Podiatry

conditions commonly treated by our podiatrist include bunions, corns, calluses, ingrown toenails, diabetic foot care, fungal infections and foot care for the elderly.

Muskuloskeletal podiatry addresses conditions that affect the biomechanics and structure of the feet and lower limbs.

Muskuloskeletal Podiatry

conditions commonly treated by our podiatrist include plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, ankle sprains, stress fractures, and arthritis as well as biomechanical abnormalities and sports injuries.

Custom orthotics can be the key to removing the discomfort of foot pain or improper alignment.

Custom Orthotics

where appropriate, our podiatrist can provide customised orthotics (shoe inserts) to support proper foot alignment and function, and improve overall lower limb biomechanics.

FAQs about Podiatry

No that’s not necessary. Anyone can book an appointment with a Podiatrist, you don’t need a referral from your GP.

During your initial treatment your podiatrist will take a brief medical history and then examine your feet and discuss your concerns. A treatment plan will be suggested and carried out with your agreement. You will be advised as to whether any further treatment is necessary or referred accordingly.

Please wear the shoes, sporting shoes or walking boots that you most commonly wear if they relate to the concern that you have. You may wish to bring a selection of different shoes with you. If you wear or have worn insoles please also bring these. This will allow us to assess whether your shoes could be contributing to the problem. If your concern is related to your nails then please remove any nail varnish prior to the appointment.

Your therapist will be able to determine approximately how many sessions will be required after the initial consultation.

All therapists at The Boxgrove are fully qualified, fully insured, and belong to the necessary governing bodies. Each one is hand-picked by us and is a specialist in their field of expertise.

Directions to The Boxgrove and a map can be found here. Parking is available to all of our patients. We kindly ask all those coming for a scheduled class to park in the Boxgrove Village Hall car park.
