Pilates at The Boxgrove Clinic

Pilates is an integral part of what we do at The Boxgrove Clinic. We offer both Reformer Pilates and Mat Pilates. Our joined up treatment approach connects the work that you do with the clinical team with specialist Pilates instructors who can help you with your continued rehabilitation and with your health and fitness goals. Pilates is suitable for everyone, whether you are recovering from injury, managing a chronic condition, or aiming to enhance performance. We have three separate studios at The Boxgrove Clinic all of which are used for Pilates.

A 4:1 Reformer Pilates Class at The Boxgrove Clinic

Reformer Pilates

The reformer is an incredibly powerful piece of equipment that stretches and strengthens the body via a carriage that moves along a set of rails attached to a system of springs. The resistance and support that the machine provides enables you to achieve flexibility often hard to achieve on the mat. We offer 1:1 Reformer Pilates tuition and also run small classes of up to 4 people. Read more…

FAQs about Pilates

Pilates offers a wide range of benefits, including improved posture, increased core strength, enhanced flexibility, better balance, and overall body conditioning. It can also help reduce stress and increase body awareness.

The frequency of your Pilates practice depends on your fitness goals. For general fitness and well-being, 2-3 sessions per week are recommended. If you have specific goals or are recovering from an injury, your instructor will be able to provide you with a personalised plan.
Pilates can be beneficial during pregnancy, but it’s essential to work with a qualified prenatal Pilates instructor who can modify exercises to suit your changing body. We offer pre and post natal Pilates options with our women’s health physiotherapists and qualified Pilates instructors.
Wear comfortable, breathable clothing that allows for a full range of motion. Many of our clients wear leggings or shorts and a form-fitting top. Most Pilates classes are done barefoot or with grip socks for added traction.

Directions to The Boxgrove and a map can be found here. Parking is available to all of our patients. We kindly ask all those coming for a scheduled class to park in the Boxgrove Village Hall car park.

A Team Approach

Our multi-disciplinary approach includes Specialist Physiotherapists, Soft Tissue Therapists, Rehab Specialists, Pilates Instructors and Personal Trainers who work collaboratively, all under one roof, to create a seamless journey from treatment, manual therapy and rehabilitation through to full fitness.
