What is Physiotherapy and how does it work at The Boxgrove Clinic?

We have a team of highly experienced Physiotherapists that can help to alleviate your pain, restore movement and ultimately improve your injury or condition. Our physiotherapists are experts in diagnosing and treating injuries and conditions and use a variety of techniques such as mobilisation, manipulation, massage and exercise. They help muscles, soft tissue, joints and nerves all work to their full potential and can offer you a wide variety of specialist appointments. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to give us a call.

Muskuloskeletal Physiotherapy

our MSK physiotherapists focus on the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions and injuries affecting your muscles, bones, joints, ligaments, and tendons.

Sports Physiotherapy

our sports physiotherapists can create sports specific programmes for you to enhance performance, minimise the risk of injury and help you manage and recover faster from injury.

Women’s Health Physiotherapy

physiotherapy that focuses on the assessment and treatment of conditions related to the pelvic region in women. Addressing women’s health issues at whatever stage of life you are at.

Prehab & Rehab Classes

These are hugely popular classes for patients preparing themselves for or recovering from surgery. Classes are led by a physiotherapist for patients with a bespoke rehab or prehab programme that has been prescribed by their physiotherapist.

Shockwave Therapy

Focal shockwave therapy uses high-intensity sound waves to help heal certain musculoskeletal conditions and injuries. Most commonly used to treat conditions such as plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, and achilles tendonitis.

acupuncture can be used as a complementary treatment in physiotherapy. It can help to stimulate energy flow and promote healing and is often used to address musculoskeletal and pain-related conditions.

The Treatment Process

FAQs about Physiotherapy

No that’s not necessary. Our Physiotherapist is trained to evaluate and treat your concerns. However, if you wish to use private health insurance you should contact your insurer before making an appointment as they may require a referral from your GP.

During your first visit to The Boxgrove, the Physiotherapist will give you an initial assessment. This will include discussing the relevant problem, the suggested treatment, and your expected outcome. The suggested treatment will take place during this initial assessment and you may do some work in our Pilates Reformer Studio if relevant to your needs. A tailored treatment plan will then be discussed together and suggested exercises or advice given.

We recommend that you wear loose comfortable clothing. We may ask you to partially remove some clothing so that we can access the area to treat. We provide shorts should you need to change. All rooms are warm and blankets provided. We also use towels to maintain your privacy.

Your therapist will be able to determine approximately how many sessions will be required after the initial consultation.

Of course, if you are nervous or worried about your initial appointment please do bring a friend or family member with you. If you’re under 16 years then an adult will need to be present during the consultation.

All therapists at The Boxgrove are fully qualified, fully insured, and belong to the necessary governing bodies. Each one is hand-picked by us and is a specialist in their field of expertise.

Directions to The Boxgrove and a map can be found here. Parking is available to all of our patients. We kindly ask all those coming for a scheduled class to park in the Boxgrove Village Hall car park.

“Serena has been an absolute godsend for me. She was extremely knowledgeable about my complex condition and she gave me confidence that there was light at the end of the tunnel! I have gained strength quickly by following her very specific plan and have throughly enjoyed using the reformer machines under her guidance. The Boxgrove has been a beautiful and friendly place to recuperate in. Highly recommended..”
